Lois Kristine Rasmussen Turner

She was my grandmother and I have many found memeories of her. She taught us many things and one of the things she tried to teach all of her Grandchildren was her love for Family History work. I guess it rubbed off on some of us but not all. I remember her teaching me how to gather eggs from under a setty hen and in the fall dressing out chickens for the freezer. She loved all of us and loved having her family around. She also loved books and made sure we all receivied a book at Christmas time that she thought we would enjoy even if we had never told her we had an interest in that particular subject,. Being a good Grandson I always said, "Thank You" even if I had no idea why she gave me that book.

Obituary:
Helen Beatrice Rasmussen Petersen "Grandma Bea" ?Helen Beatrice Rasmussen Petersen, 85, passed away peacefully on Feb. 22, 2004 in Salt Lake City, Utah. ?Born June 27, 1919 in Midvale Utah to Hans Fredrick and Nina Marie Rasmussen. Bea graduated from Jordan High School at the age of sixteen. She later graduated from Stevens Henegar Business College where she learned the business and accounting skills that helped her build and support several successful businesses with her husband. Bea married Grant R. Petersen, December 19, 1943 (later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple), after waiting for his return from serving in the Army during World War II. She quietly worked beside dad, helping him throughout his successful business career. Their love and devotion for each other grew stronger in each of their fifty-seven years of marriage. Mom was happiest when visiting with family and friends at any hour. Her commitment to her family included years of service in the PTA, scouting, and numerous church callings. She loved family traditions including "big nickel" bingo at the grandkids annual Christmas party, Chinese food on Christmas Eve, singing in the car, birthday shopping and lunch, helping less fortunate families, and family reunions. Mom made certain that a family vacation was part of every summer and insisted on proper grammar and etiquette from each of her children and grandchildren. ?Bea is survived by her three children: G. Reed Petersen (Gayle), Joan Nichol (Jim), Carol VanVranken (Ross), eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two sisters. Her last smile was for a kiss from a great grandchild. Those welcoming her home include Grant, her parents, two brothers and two sisters. ?Services will be held Thursday, Feb. 26th, at 12 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Chapel, 2350 East 1300 South. Friends may call Wednesday evening 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to service. Interment at Wasatch Lawn.
